One of the most rewarding things for me and my business this past year has been connecting with other photographers. I have made so many friendships and met so many amazing people that are so open and willing to help me and others like myself grow. It is hard working in an industry that is so saturated. There is competition around every corner, if that is how you choose to see it. I am a part of several groups that only encourage, love, and share, they don’t see me and other photographers as competition, but as opportunities for friendships, and growth within the industry. It is easy to get caught up in what other people are doing, or how great someone else’s work is or what another photographer is charging. I think this can only hurt our businesses. Since connecting with other photographers in my area and across the country and globe, my business has actually grown. I have learned so much from my peers and know that I have a group of amazing people that are there to help if I need it. Seriously, it is AWESOME. I am so thankful for every single connection and friendship I have made in the industry.
On that note, one of my fellow P31 sisters, Jessica Chavez, who happens to be an amazing photographer and lives in Baja California, Mexico (how fun is that?!) has been having some guest posts on her blog in celebration of her recent trip to Italy and Paris. She featured mine last week (yikes I have been busy! I wanted to post this last Thursday) so go take a look. And while you are there snoop around at all of her amazing work :)
