Brady ~ Central Valley Newborn Photographer

Doing a little catching up today on sharing past sessions.  This adorable little man is Brady.  Just a few days old here!  I thought I would use this post as a way to give you a few newborn session pointers.  Newborn sessions tend to be much longer than my other session types (3 hours+) so a lot of patience is needed.  Being prepared and having our shoot area ready can help save time, make things go more smoothly and make the whole experience less stressful.  Here’s a little check list for ya.

*clean up your home.  Free it from clutter around walls and furniture.  Especially the area where we will be shooting most, which will be the room in the house with the most natural light from outside.  Sliding glass doors and large windows will be our best friend for your newborn session!
*have on hand and near shoot area the following items: baby wipes, pacifier, blankets, props you may want to use, blow dryer (for white noise.  I usually remember to bring my own), formula/bottle, cleaning supplies.
*Feed baby right before I arrive.  This way he/she is sleepy and satisfied.  Be prepared to nurse or bottle feed several times throughout our session.
*heat the house to at least 80 degrees.  I realize this is super hot and we will be a bit uncomfortable but baby will love it!
*loosen your babies diaper about 20 minutes before I arrive so he does not have diaper marks on his legs

I can not stress enough how helpful all these things are in getting images like the ones below!
